Mathieu Béjot was appointed to the French Embassy in India in September 2024 to oversee the media and entertainment industry in India and South Asia, and is currently based in Mumbai. From 2020 to 2024, he served as Director of Strategy and Development at Sunny Side of the Doc, the international documentary market held annually in France since 1990. During this period, he was also a Senior Advisor to BEAJ (the Broadcast Program Export Association of Japan).

From 2000 to 2018, he was the Executive Director of TV France International, the association representing French television programme exporters. Earlier in his career, he worked as Cultural Attaché in charge of the creative industries at the French Embassy in Japan (1997–2000), the French Consulate General in Hong Kong (1994–1997), and the French Embassy in Canada (1988–1993).

French Institute in India

The French Institute in India (IFI), a section of the Embassy of France in India, is dedicated to nurturing and enabling meaningful cultural, scientific and educational exchanges between France and India.

In the film and entertainment industry, IFI fosters and supports co-productions and training activities, connects talents and promotes French content as well as shooting in France.
