Emma Davie is a filmmaker and Emeritus Professor for the University of Edinburgh. She has created work for national and international broadcasters.

The Oil Machine toured widely, provoking debates and discussions about how we move beyond oil and played at the Houses of Parliament as well as festivals including IDFA, CPH Dox etc.

Becoming Animal, co-directed with Peter Mettler and featuring eco-philosopher David Abram, was nominated at CPH:DOX, Edinburgh Film Festival, Docs Against Gravity and others.

Her previous feature, I Am Breathing, co-directed with Morag McKinnon won a Scottish BAFTA and travelled to over 50 countries as part of a major impact campaign.

Other works include Ch 4’s What Age Can You Start Being an Artist? co-directed with 11-year-olds and nominated for a Grierson.

She has mentored several filmmakers including Nada Riyadh & Ayman El Amir on The Brink of Dreams which won at Cannes last year.
