Salomé Jashi | Filmmaker | Georgia
Salomé Jashi is a documentary filmmaker from Georgia. Her feature documentary Taming the Garden (2021) premiered at the Sundance Film Festival (World Cinema Documentary Competition) and the Berlinale Forum, and was nominated for the European Film Awards.
Her earlier film The Dazzling Light of Sunset (2016) received awards at Visions du Réel, while her mid-length documentary Bakhmaro (2011) was nominated for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
As a producer, her film How the Room Felt (2021) premiered in IDFA’s competition. The body of her work, including features and shorts, was celebrated at BAMPFA through a series of screenings and talks in September 2023.
Salomé tutors and gives talks internationally. She is the recipient of the Berlin Art Prize (2024) and the European Award – KAIROS Prize (2024).
She is the chairperson and co-founder of Documentary Association Georgia (DOCA Georgia) and produces her films through Sakdoc Film, which she co-founded in 2008.
