Call for Interns and Volunteers
Documentary Resource Initiative is looking for passionate interns and volunteers to join the team for the 23rd edition of DocedgeKolkata.
DocedgeKolkata, Asian Forum for Documentary, is an annual international documentary incubation-cum-pitching forum for Indian and Asian documentary filmmakers. The forum is dedicated to the intensive development of creative storytelling skills and the creation of international co-production opportunities.
We are excited to announce a Call for Interns and Volunteers to help make the upcoming edition a success!
Are you a creative designer or a photography/videography whiz?
Does the thrill of the event and logistics excite you?
Are you a social media maven or the go-to person for hosting memorable get-togethers?
Whatever your talent or background, come share it with our team.
Currently, all roles are open for Kolkata candidates only, and candidates must be of 18 years of age to apply.
INTERNSHIP ROLES & REQUIREMENTS:
OFFICE & PROGRAMME COORDINATION
- Description: Support overall administrative and programme operations for the forum. Help with Volunteer training and management.

Requirements:
- Assist with documentation, schedules, and data management.
- Coordinate communication with participants and mentors.
- Prepare event materials and maintain office records.
- Oversee volunteers during registration and programme activities.

Requirements:
- Good communication and multitasking ability
- Basic MS Office/Google Suite skills.
- Strong organisational aptitude.
HOSPITALITY
- Description: Oversee guest experience, venue coordination, and event-related hospitality needs.

Responsibilities:
- Communicate with hotels for rooming and stay arrangements.
- Coordinate with venues for event sessions, meetings, and gatherings.
- Plan and manage internal events, mixers, and parties.
- Speak with caterers, finalise menus, and ensure smooth service.
- Supervise hospitality volunteers during the event.

- Excellent people-handling and planning skills.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure.
- Professional communication skills.
- Patience and great organisational skills.
DESIGN
- Description: Create and manage event visuals, including posters, banners, social media graphics, certificates, and other branding materials.

Responsibilities:
- Design event collaterals for DocedgeKolkata.
- Work with the communications team on daily design needs.
- Maintain visual consistency across platforms.
- Coordinate and supervise volunteer designers during the event.

Requirements:
- Proficiency in Canva/Photoshop.
- Strong design sense.
- Own laptop required.
COMMUNICATION AND PR
- Description: Help craft communication material, manage updates across platforms, engage with audiences, and assist in building a strong public presence for the event.

Responsibilities:
- Support the event’s outreach & dissemination of information across media, including Social Media channels.
- Assist in drafting announcements, social media posts, captions, and press notes.
- Coordinate with the core team to maintain consistent and timely communication across channels.
- Assist with newsletters, emailers, and communication material for participants and mentors.
- Document key moments, sessions, and interactions for internal and external communication.

Requirements:
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Good understanding of social media platforms and trends.
- Ability to capture engaging content (photos/videos) is a plus.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and proactive.
- Comfortable interacting with participants, mentors, and media.
- Ability to work under tight timelines during live sessions.
TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT
- Description:Oversee the technical aspects of the event, including AV setups, technical checkups and run-throughs, sound checkups etc.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with setting up and managing audio-visual equipment (projectors, speakers, mics, etc.).
- Provide basic troubleshooting for laptops, Wi-Fi, projectors, Zoom/online sessions, or presentation software.
- Monitor the event schedule and prepare technical setups in advance.
- Flag any technical issues to the core team immediately.
- Assist in managing backups, file transfers, and digital resources if required.

Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of computers, projectors, Internet setup, and AV equipment.
- Quick problem-solving skills and a calm approach under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to different tech tools.
DURATION OF THE ROLE
Mid January to Mid March
Full-time only from 25 Feb to 15 March, the rest of the period part-time.
WHAT INTERNS GAIN

VOLUNTEER ROLES & REQUIREMENTS:
VIDEO EDITOR
- Description:Help create stunning visuals, including dynamic posters, banners, and social media videos.

Requirements:
- Proficiency in any video editing software.
- Can also edit videos on the phone when needed.
- Ability to work quickly and meet short deadlines during the event.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and open to feedback.
- Own devices required.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY
- Description:Capture high-quality photos and videos of the event, from key moments and candid shots to behind-the-scenes footage.

Requirements:
- Basic to intermediate photography skills with a good eye for composition.
- Ability to identify and dynamically capture interesting candid moments during the event.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced event environments.
- Organised, punctual, and able to deliver photos promptly.
- Must be comfortable approaching people and quietly stepping into situations to capture authentic moments.
- Own DSLR camera/ lenses and tripodrequired.
- Experience in event photography or videography is a plus.
TRAVEL & HOSPITALITY
- Description:Manage logistics related to transportation, airport pickups, and hospitality for guests coming from all across the globe.

- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to handle logistics smoothly and efficiently.
- Ability to handle people respectfully and patiently.
EVENT MANAGEMENT
- Description:Assist in the seamless execution of event activities, including setting up, coordinating schedules, and managing onsite tasks.

Requirements:
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience in event coordination or willingness to learn.
- Open to all kinds of job requirements during the event.
- Able to foresee and troubleshoot problems or bring them to the attention of the core team.
- Highly motivated and proactive.
DURATION OF THE ROLE
Full-time from 25 February to 15 March.
