FEI-FUNG SHUM FEI-FUNG SHUM, Assistant Chief Editor, Phoenix Television, Hong Kong

Currently the Assistant Chief Editor of Hong Kong Phoenix Satellite Television Fei-Fung Shum mostly works as a documentary producer and supervise a number of daily or weekly commentary programs. He joined Phoenix TV as a Senior Producer in 2008 and went on to produce a number of TV features and documentaries regarding international issues: ‘Secret of a City-state----The Story of Vatican’, ‘On Fire----What’s happening in Australia’, ‘Earth Temperature----From Global Warming to Global Crisis’.

Previously he worked in Ming Pao, a prominent daily newspaper in Hong Kong; and Oriental Daily, the biggest circulated newspaper in Hong Kong. His work in journalism covered from China Desk to International Desk and he became the Vice Controller of Oriental News Agency in 2006.

Fei-Fung ‘s most important work in Phoenix TV is focus on the Korean Peninsula. He started travelling to North and South Korea frequently since 2009. A series of documentary about North Korea and South Korea had been made that received several awards, including ‘Journey to North Korea 2009’, ‘Journey to North Korea 2012’, ‘Journey to North Korea 2013’ and ‘Earth Temperature’.

The channel began to broadcast on 31 March, 1996, with the philosophy of “reducing the distance within the global Chinese community and expressing the voice of Chinese to the world”. Through twenty-one years of hard work, Phoenix has developed from being a one-channel station to a multi-channel television broadcaster, and currently has an audience in excess of 360 million worldwide.

Phoenix has now evolved into an omni-media corporate group, with an internet website (www.ifeng.com), which is ranked top in broadcasting platform, and tops clicking of all internet news providers, a weekly magazine, an outdoor Mega LED advertising business, and publishing, radio broadcasting, education projects, culture and game.
