Ashley Burgess is a specialist cross-cultural filmmaker with degrees in Film, Philosophy and Entrepreneurship. He has directed feature films, documentaries and radio dramas in seven languages and eight countries. As a Showrunner and Head of Production with the BBC in Burma and Thailand his acclaimed programs regularly sustained prime time audiences of over ten million.

Burgess began his career in stunt work, and has since worked as a journalist, cinematographer, editor and sound designer before finding his niche as a writer/director. He is the Head of Special Projects and International Convener at the Griffith Film School in Brisbane, Australia. He leads the school’s international co-productions and a range of award-winning cross-cultural Filmmaking Bootcamps, which he has run in Thailand, India, Vanuatu, Japan and Indonesia as well as the Australian Outback.

Over the past year Ashley has co-produced films with partners in Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, India, and Vanuatu.
