AHMET GÜRATA AHMET GÜRATA, Associate Professor, Department of Nordic and Media Studies, University of Agder, Norway

Ahmet Gürata is an associate professor at the Department of Nordic and Media Studies, University of Agder. His work mainly focuses on film history, archive and documentary. As a film critic he writes regularly for a number of publications. He also works as a programmer for the Festival on Wheels and Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. He is a member of the International Federation of Film Critics, Fipresci.

He has a Ph.D. from the London Consortium, which examined remakes and cross-cultural reception in Turkish cinema. His research focuses on Turkish cinema, film history & theory, documentary and visual culture. He has published research on the history of Turkish cinema, cross-cultural reception, remakes and documentary in anthologies and journals.

Gürata received the Turkish Academy of Sciences’ Honorable Mention Award for his translation of ‘A Short Guide to Writing About Film’ (Timothy J.Corrigan) ın 2009.
