Audrius Stonys, recipient of the National Culture and Art Award, is a member of the European Documentary Network. He has worked as a teacher of Documentary in the European Film College, Denmark from 2004 to 2005. His films have received numerous international film awards. Among them are – Audience Award in Nyon, Grand Prix in Split, and prizes in Bornholm, Florence, Gyor, Neu Brandenburg, Oberhausen, Bilbao and San Francisco. In 1992, the documentary film “Earth of the Blind” was recognised by the European Film Academy as the Best European Documentary Film of the Year and received the Felix Award. Audrius has conducted lectures and master classes in Kolkata, Sao Paulo, Seoul, Tokyo, Berkeley, Stanford, Moscow, Belgrade, Barcelona, San Francisco, Carpi Modena and Paris. He has presented his films in Switzerland, Russia, France, Israel, Czech Republic, Germany, USA, Belgium, Spain, Turkey, Colombia, Uruguay, and Italy. His film in the Tian Shan Mountains – “Woman and the Glacier” received immense international acclaim.
His 2018 film, “Bridges of Time”, with Kristīne Briede, is a meditative documentary essay that portrays the less-remembered generation of cinema poets of the Baltic New Wave.
