Anna Petrus is a filmmaker, film critic, cultural researcher, professor and currently Artistic Director of DocsBarcelona International Film Festival.

She holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona). She has directed multiple films, including video art, fiction, and documentary, which have touring festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival, Festival des Films du Monde (Montréal), Sitges- Festival Internacional de Cinema de Catalunya or FicXixón, among many others.

She has worked as a film critic in several relevant film magazines and newspapers in Spain (such as Dirigido por, Cahiers du Cinéma -Spain, and La Vanguardia). She is currently a contributor to the newspaper Ara, where she writes about cinema, audiovisual and feminism; and she is also part of the Board of Directors of Dones Visuals (Visual Women), the association of women filmmakers in Catalonia.

DocsBarcelona

DocsBarcelona is a film festival specialising in the documentary genre. It is made up of international competitive and non-competitive sections that present the best documentary production in the world.

On the other hand, DocsBarcelona Industry takes place on the same dates as the festival. It is a market that brings together every year producers and directors seeking funding or advice for their projects with financiers, commissioning editors and international sales agents.

DocsBarcelona held its first edition in 1997.

Finally, DocsBarcelona manages a distribution brand buying 10 documentaries every year to widely distribute them in Spain.
